The City has received new information regarding the Dodge County Wind Farm project, specifically regarding the transmission line. As a refresher, two of the four proposed routes for a major transmission line are proposed to go through Dodge Center due to having an existing energy line already in Dodge Center. The final path for this new transmission line has not yet been decided and the two Dodge Center routes are included in the proposal by request of the Public Utilities Commission. Previously, a draft Environmental Impact Study (EIS) was set to be released in late June. This draft EIS will discuss the impacts of each proposed route. The Public Utilities Commission has released a new schedule, delayed about thirty (30) days off the original schedule.
The release of the draft EIS is now scheduled to be July 29, 2019. A public hearing will then be on August 20, 2019, and a second public hearing on September 18, 2019. For each hearing date, there will be two sessions — one session will be from 1-4 PM and the second from 6-9/10 PM. The August hearing will be at the Kasson Mantorville Performing Arts Center and the September hearing will be at the Dodge County Fair Grounds.
As the City learns more information, we will continue to update our website and social media accounts.
